The first day of school

Monday, October 7th, 2019

Today was our first day of school at Prior Lake High, but it was not at all how we expected it to be.

We had to be at school at 7:45 am and meet with all the others in Frau Popes room to exchange our first experiences from the weekend.

Then everyone got their schedule for the next days and some information about which one of the host students we will get to follow each day.

After we had finished our meeting, the host students went to their classes and we stayed Mrs Pope’s German room. Throughout the day we got to participate in five different German classes with each being at a different level (1-3 years). Frau Pope had prepared some ‘warm-up questions’ in German in order to get to know each other. After that the students got to ask us questions about school and life in general in Germany. Some of us also got the opportunity to go to Herr Ingalsbe’s German class so we could talk to his students as well.

When the third period had ended we had our lunch break, which was very overwhelming because of the huge cafeteria and the huge number of students.

The sixth and last period ended at 3 pm and that ended our first school day. Everyone was able to go home with good first impressions of a typical day at Prior Lake High School and spent the rest of their day individually with their host family.

All in all one could say that it was a very interesting but also boring day because we had to do the same activity over and over again. Despite that we are very excited for tomorrow since we will be able to take part in other classes as well.
